Montague Rhodes James (1 August 1862 – 12 June 1936) was a British author, medievalist scholar and provost of King's College, Cambridge (1905-1918) and of Eton College (1918 - 1936). Though his work as a medievalist and a scholar are highly regarded, he is perhaps most famous for his ghost stories.
The Fourth Doctor and Romana once attempted to visit his birthplace, but their journey by train was disrupted by a spiritualist. (AUDIO: The Haunting of Malkin Place)
