Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Smith received the distress signal from the crashed UK-201 on Dido and proceeded there to rescue Vicki Pallister and Bennett. When the arrival of the Doctor's TARDIS was detected, Vicki thought this meant that the rescue ship had already landed, but the captain confirmed that they were still three days away.

After the TARDIS left Dido, Smith tried to contact the UK-201 again, asking for the homing beacon so he could find the planet. However, the Dido people wrecked the communications system so the rescue ship would never arrive. (TV: The Rescue)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Commander Smith's rank of "Space Captain" was only given in the closing credits.
  • Smith's name was given only in Ian Marter's novelisation, and not derived from any information given in the televised version.
