Vacano was a chief scientist on the Imperial Darkheart colony. He had not aged over the last three hundred years due to the effects of the Darkheart. After obtaining parts from a Veltrochni ship, he was able to fine-tune the Darkheart. This enabled the Imperials to alter the morphic fields near the planet, changing all non-humans into humans or eliminating them from existence. (PROSE: The Dark Path)
