Revision as of 06:11, 24 May 2023

There's a whole other world out here, beneath the articles, where decisions are made every month of the year.

Welcome to the Forums! These are... the Cloisters.

You have entered the forums for Tardis Data Core, the Doctor Who Wiki. This, here, is the index for those forums, in their entirety, including past iterations. We call this place... the Cloisters.

The Cloisters on Gallifrey — which now lie at the end of the universe — open to the Matrix, a repository of knowledge from all Time Lords and their TARDISes, wielding the Eye of Harmony.

Nothing so grand here. And though we do write as though from the end of the universe, the fact is that policies and use cases are constantly in flux. These forums are where we work all that out... and everyone is invited to participate in the writing of policy, along with us, as we move with the times once more.

The forums are back, baby!

It is returning, and he is returning, and they are returning... And just in time!

If you're coming from the Jodie Whittaker era, or perhaps beyond, you may not be familiar with how forums work around here. That's because we recently went through a Wilderness Years period of our own, ended recently with the advent of temporary forums, and now the permanent forums, codenamed VISIONARY, after the Visionary from The End of Time.

Our long-prophesied return to form has come at last, and we in the admin team couldn't be more excited! But don't forget: we have rules here you'll need to get to know. Tardis:Discussion policy and Tardis:No personal attacks are the big ones to keep in mind... and don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes, like this ("~~~~").

Keep your cool, and don't let things get too heated, but dig in, fellow editors! We have a long and prosperous road ahead of us. Thank you so much, to everyone, for sharing in that.

(I'll even demonstrate the signing process, and, in so doing, cut the ribbon for the Visionary Forums. Thanks to User:Scrooge MacDuck in particular for co-writing... and for badgering me to keep going, and get these sorted, once and for all. 💙)

The Index

This page is still a work in progress. But click below to get to the five currently active Forum Boards, as well as their archive:

The Panopticon

Desperate Measures textless.jpg

The Panopticon is where you go to discuss big changes on the wiki. If you want to be able to change actual policy, this is the place to go.

Anything which can't go on a single talk page, and doesn't belong in one of the other Forum spaces — below — probably needs to be started here. (But don't worry, if you're confused, there's a place for that, too!)

Inclusion debates

Fugitive Doctor in the Matrix (TTC).jpg

Ah, yes. A special favourite for some segments of the Tardis community. When you want to argue for or against validity for certain sources, this is the place to go... But make sure to read through Tardis:Valid sources thoroughly before plotting out a new discussion!

(And do refer to the Board page for more information on how things work around here. This is a very local issue, here.)

(Help!) Advice and Assistance

Advice and Assistance2.jpg

Not even sure where to start? We've got you covered! Here is a good place to come first when you're trying to get used to how things work on the wiki, or unsure about policy or convention here.

As it says on the Doctor's trusty TARDIS... "Advice and Assistance Obtainable Immediately"... But please give us time to respond. Thank you, and welcome to the community! 🤍

The Old Workshops (Tech Board)

Forums Old Workshops2.jpg

Have you got a bug report? Want to propose a new template? The Old Workshops is the one-stop shop for all technical issues on the wiki (including templates, CSS, JS, DPL and SMW, for those in the know).

Come by and help us out! Our tech admin(s) will be with you shortly.

Tales from the Tardis (Admin Announcements)

Main article: Forum:Tales from the Tardis
Briefly Noted.jpg

Finally, we have the one board you won't be posting in: Tales from the Tardis is for admin announcements from our local team. Be sure to stop by to find out what's going on!

(But do note: non-admins are not allowed to post here, and usually, not allowed to respond directly. But tell us what you think in the Panopticon if you'd like to propose some changes!)
