Nasreen Chaudry was a geologist from the year 2020 who, along with Tony Mack, was digging down into the Earth further than any other human had before. The digging began after Nasreen and Tony had noticed the appearance of a mineral in the local Cwmtaff area that hadn't been seen on Earth for many years. The digging continued until the Doctor arrived, and realised that something else was digging up to the surface. This turned out to be the Silurian race. After a member of her staff and his young son were taken by the Silurians, Nasreen accompanied the Doctor in the TARDIS deep below the Earth's surface. While Nasreen explored underground with the Doctor, she discovered a subterranean metropolis inhabited by the Silurians, far larger than she or the Doctor had anticipated. (DW: The Hungry Earth)
