Kaston Iago was an assassin. He was also a fugitive from the interplanetary Federation. He was born on Earth and has variously claimed his real name to be either "Frank Archer" or "Paul Darrow". (AUDIO: Metafiction)

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

He was born on Earth. (AUDIO: Metafiction)

After defrauding the Federation bank for either five million or five hundred million, which he stored on a neutral space station outside of Federation control, Iago was convicted for embezzlement and sentenced to life imprisonment on a penal planet. Four months into an eight month journey to the planet, he managed to escape from the prison ship along with two fellow prisoners when the ship became involved in a salvage operation to recover an alien spacecraft.

Once in control of the alien spacecraft, Iago joined in a fellow prisoner's war against the Federation. First they travelled to the penal planet to rescue additional crew members, arriving three hours later just as the prison ship was docking. (PROSE: Metafiction)

Iago killed the Butcher of Zircaster. (AUDIO: Taren Capel)

After many adventures with his crewmates, their second ship crashed on Gauda Prime, where Iago found himself surrounded by fifty heavily armed Federation guards. He claimed to Justina Kessel that he escaped execution by shooting out the lights in the room so the guards shot each other. Afterwards he focused on gunrunning and mercenary work until arriving on Kaldor, (AUDIO: Metafiction) where he committed a series of random murders in Kaldor City so that Kiy Uvanov would hire him as a bodyguard. (AUDIO: Occam's Razor)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Throughout the Kaldor City series, it was repeatedly hinted that Iago was the Blake's 7 character Kerr Avon under a psuedonym. Occam's Razor features several hints that Iago has knowledge and skills possessed by Avon and few others, and Taren Capel and Metafiction attribute many of Avon's adventures to Iago.
  • Iago appeared in the stage play Robots of Death, an adaptation of The Robots of Death where Iago took on the Fourth Doctor's role.
  • In the two versions of Metafiction, Iago says that his "real" name is Paul Darrow and Frank Archer. Respectively, these are the names of the actor of Iago and the name of that actor's character in Magic Bullet's non-DWU audio play The Time Waster.
