When their spacecraft crashed on Spiridon, their captain, Miro, was killed on touchdown, leaving Taron to take command as the next most senior. When a second taskforce arrived on Spiridon, Taron was not pleased to see that his lover, Rebec, was among them, fearing for her safety. When the taskforce first met Jo Grant and the Third Doctor, Taron was initially skeptical of the Doctor's claims that he was the same man who once saved the Thal race.
