The Skirkons were an advanced humanoid race possessing beak-like noses and large eyes. One group of Skirkons, led by their chief, Zarka, came to Vortis in their spacecraft and set up a mountain base in a mushroom-shaped tower. They used flying vehicles shaped like Zarbi and armed with projectile weapons to capture Menoptera, forcing them to mine for Galvinium X by using a device which controlled the real Zarbi. It thus appeared to the Menoptera that the Zarbi had turned rebellious and developed new abilities. The First Doctor, John and Gillian helped defeat the Skirkons, who were killed when the Doctor blew up their base by firing at the Galvinium X they had stockpiled. (COMIC: On the Web Planet)
