Outside of the DWU, she co-wrote the comic book series Jack of Fables, and a number of other titles published by DC Comics.

Sturges is transgender[3], and has been a notable supporter of expressing trans stories in media, saying "The more trans narratives we share with the world, the more the world comes to understand us, and the more young trans people can discover their own identities reflected in us."[3]
