While not stated in the minisode, "Things Can Only Get Better" was a song by the band D:Ream. Brian Cox was the band's keyboardist, although he did not play on the track.
The song is also often associated with Tony Blair and the Labour Party, who used it as their campaign song in the 1997 general election.
