Regeneration is a special power by which damaged Time Lords have their whole bodies renewed at every Cell. Time Lords can regenerate fully twelve times. Though the Doctor has regenerated twelve times, he was luckily given a new life cycle.

The Doctors incarnations and regenerations are listed, from the First Doctor and his regeneration to the Eleventh Doctor and his regeneration into the Twelfth Doctor. Counting the War Doctor, the Eleventh Doctor is technically the Doctor's twelfth incarnation.
