Julia Challis was a standby painter and standby scenic artist on the first Russell T Davies era of Doctor Who, as well as on Torchwood, and a standby art director on Doctor Who series 9.

She first served as standby art director on Music of the Spheres, and worked for BBC Wales on Sherlock and Upstairs, Downstairs, before returning to that role on Doctor Who, starting with The Magician's Apprentice.
