Arrest

An individual could be placed under arrest for breaking the law.

In 1927, New York police shot Jack Harkness and arrested Angelo Colasanto. (TV: Immortal Sins)

Rosa Parks was arrested on the 1st December 1955 after famously refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger on a racially segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama. This event was witnessed by the Thirteenth Doctor, Ryan Sinclair, Yasmin Khan, and Graham O'Brien and would lead to the Montgomery Bus Boycott that led to the end of racial segregation a year later. (TV: Rosa)

Thanks to the intercession of the temporarily miniaturised First Doctor and his companions, police were able to arrest corrupt industrialist Forester for the murder of Arnold Farrow in June 1969. (TV: Planet of Giants)

By early 2006, the webmaster of Who is Doctor Who? feared by falsely arrested again (PROSE: Rose sighting confirmed) due to the police suspecting him being involved with Rose Tyler's disappearance. (TV: Aliens of London)

After Torchwood Three's encounter with the Brynblaidd villagers in the 2000s,[nb 1] the villagers were arrested by police. (TV: Countrycide)

At Easter in approximately the 2000s,[nb 2] DI McMillan was on the case for arresting Lady Christina de Souza for robbery. The Tenth Doctor pretended to arrest himself inside a police box for aiding in her escape. (TV: Planet of the Dead)

Following a fight in the 2000s,[nb 3] Jack Harkness and the newly-undead Owen Harper were arrested. (TV: Dead Man Walking)

As director of the Interior Defence Unit, Cardinal Mantus had the power to arrest any Time Lord he so wished. (AUDIO: Havoc)

On 14 June 2426, the Judoon placed the planet Tivoli under their jurisdiction, arresting the Raxacoricofallapatorians whom had previously stolen the planet from the Stenza. As with all the planet's occupiers, the Judoon were welcomed as heroes by the native Tivolians. (PROSE: Time Traveller's Diary)

Footnotes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  1. Episodes 1-10 of the first series of Torchwood are set anywhere from 2006-2009 as a result of conflicting evidence shown in the episodes Ghost Machine, Greeks Bearing Gifts, Random Shoes, To the Last Man, Reset, Adrift, Fragments, Exit Wounds, and The New World. As episode 10, Out of Time, is set at the end of December, this means that episodes 11-13 are almost certainly set the year after episodes 1-10.
  2. Both Planet of the Dead and The End of Time are referred to in dialogue as taking place after the end of Journey's End, which is set in either 2008, according to TV: The Fires of Pompeii, TV: The Waters of Mars, and AUDIO: SOS (and heavily implied by TV: The Star Beast and TV: The Giggle), or six weeks after the middle of May 2009, circa June, according to PROSE: Beautiful Chaos. However, the year of Planet of the Dead is unspecified, as is whether or not it is intended to be the Easter immediately after Journey's End.
  3. The second series of Torchwood is set anywhere from 2007-2010 as a result of conflicting evidence shown in the episodes Ghost Machine, Greeks Bearing Gifts, Random Shoes, To the Last Man, Reset, Adrift, Fragments, Exit Wounds, and The New World, as well as Meat placing the series about a year after the start of series 1.
