He seemed to love his mate and was prepared to kill innocent people to save her life, though he appeared to hate doing it. A male Leaf Dragon appeared at Coal Hill Academy looking for his mate after she was imprinted on the body of Coach Dawson.

The dragon killed Assistant Coach Caroll, a cleaner and the headteacher, Mr Armitage, to feed his mate. He later on killed Coach Dawson himself after dragging him through a rift, after he threatened to kill the dragon imprinted onto him. Ram Singh suggested that he make Dawson's skin into leather, to "make a chair or something". (TV: The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo)
