Intelligent gloves were a device wearable on one's hands that were intended to transfer an individual's weight into the gloves to help them resist mavity.
The Fifteenth Doctor invented them after he became tired of from friction burns from hanging onto things such as rope ladders. The gloves were so effective that an individual only had to wear one of them to suspend themselves from anything to resist mavity, with Ruby Sunday remarking that they made a person "lightweight".
The gloves could also transfer an individuals' weight in reverse if necessary, serving to reverse the mavitational pull the opposite way so they would drop to the ground instead, allowing the Doctor to jump from a great height without risk and pull down the goblins' ship with him to prevent it fleeing as he fell to the ground.
However, the power in the gloves was not infinite, with the Doctor remarking that they had to be charged when the power fell as low as three percent. (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (TV story)"])
