Winston Churchill's mother was American. In the last stages of her pregnancy, she attended a shooting party at Blenheim Palace. As a result, Churchill was born in the palace, and it was rumoured by some that this was deliberate on his mother's part in order to grant him a "suitably impressive birthplace". (PROSE: Players)
