The Wilhelm scream is a stock sound effect used in various movies and TV shows. It was originally recorded for the 1951 film Distant Drums.

It was used in the online game Daleks v Cybermen as the Cybermen controlled by the player "deleted" human soldiers.

It was heard on-screen in Robot of Sherwood, when the robot knights rampaged through Nottingham. A slower version of the scream is used during the Cyber-conversion scene in Rise of the Cybermen as "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is playing.
