The MediaWiki job queue is designed to help a wiki perform long-running tasks asynchronously. It is designed to hold many short tasks using batch processing.
The length of the job queue is shown on Special:Statistics on most wikis.
Depending on the size of the wiki, the job queue can vary between zero and several thousand.
