Tom's Story was a two-part short story published in Into the Unknown. It focused on the character of Tom Niven.

Part one[[edit] | [edit source]]
Young Tom Niven watches his parents fight and his father leave his mother from across the street. Unbeknownst to him, his future self sits down beside him and they talk about their parents' divorce. Tom tells his younger self that the breakup is not his fault and then Tom's mother yells at him to come inside. From inside the house, Tom's mother watches her son's future self walk away.
