The Dark Times was the earliest aeon in the history of the Universe.

Many races, such as the Carrionites, the Gallifreyans, the Racnoss, and many other races of the Fledgling Empires evolved during these times. Likewise, many were destroyed in wars (or so it seemed). (DW: The Runaway Bride, The Shakespeare Code)

The Doctor implied that the Dark Times ended with the destruction of the Racnoss and the removal of all huon energy from the universe, meaning that the creation of the Sol system was on the brink of this aeon and the next.
