Recursions was a short story published in Talespinning. It was written by David J. Howe and featured a second possible origin for Abraxas, who first appeared in the Telos novella The Cabinet of Light.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Timmy is finishing to build a toy, who he decides to name Peter. Tapping on a screen, Timmy commands his toy to move from an area of his toy box to another.

Elsewhere, Peter is arriving at Jasmine's house. Inside, Jasmine takes Peter to her room, where she shows him her newest constructs, the eco-climates and another one she called Abraxas. After charging themselves, the two kids run outside for "another day of exploration".

On Earth, Abraxas hid himself on the shadows, waiting for prey to come, so he could hunt them and feed.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • As suggested by the title and noted by the author on the "author's notes", the story deals with the idea of "worlds within worlds within worlds...". Additionally, Howe says he liked the idea of worlds being literally created by kids in other worlds.
