History[[edit] | [edit source]]
Varlos was the Darksmith who created the Eternity Crystal. Aware of its power, he fled the Darksmiths, taking the crystal and Gisella (the "daughter" he had created) with him. He hid Gisella on Flydon Maxima for her own safety and buried the crystal on the Moon until he could find a way to destroy it. (PROSE: The Depths of Despair, The Dust of Ages)
The Tenth Doctor faced the Darksmiths when he ended up going on a long series of adventures related to finding the Eternity Crystal and keeping it from the Darksmiths. Eventually, he discovered that the Krashoks had commissioned the Crystal. A confrontation occurred between the Krashoks and the Darksmiths which ended with the Darksmiths being slaughtered by their warrior clients.
