Robert grew up in a family of staunch Roman Catholic upbringing with an older brother, John, and a younger brother, Edward. Robert was the sibling of the deepest beliefs and greatest faith and John frequently used him as a moral compass to guide his proper course of action in matters of the conscience.

Polly Wright's Uncle Charles thought that the Kennedys were too liberal to become President.
