The Crooked Man was a novel by Geoff Corbett. It contained the Crooked Man, a character which came to life in the Land of Fiction.
After Geoff's daughter, Laura Corbett, accidentally included the original manuscript in a collection of books sold to Rance at a second-hand bookshop, the Crooked Man crossed over from the Land of Fiction to the real world. The Fourth Doctor defeated the Crooked Man by breaking the book spine on the book by Corbett. (AUDIO: The Crooked Man)
