Major Weir was commanding officer on the International Space Station in 2015. She had two children, with whom she video chatted. On her last mission, a Hyperion crashed into the station, destroying it and killing Weir and her crew.

However, her corpse was reanimated and made into an angel-like creature serving the Hyperions. Her conscious mind remained, and she helped the Doctor and Clara stop the aliens. However, her body perished in the attack. The Doctor was able to project her consciousness into her home on Cape Cod, where she appeared to her children before finally moving on.
