A shield, also known as shielding, (TV: Sleep No More) was used to protect people and places (TV: The Daleks' Master Plan, Planet of the Spiders, et al.) from danger (TV: The Mind Robber [+]Loading...["The Mind Robber (TV story)"]). They could be used to keep people safe (TV: Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror) or prevent scanning or detection (TV: The Poison Sky).
