The silica destructor was a blast-propelled, self-seeking weapon developed by a top-secret lab working for the Venusian Ministry of Defence.

An anti-Dalek weapon, its purpose was to blind the Dalek, projecting molten glass onto its electronic eye which would immediately harden and render it opaque, blinding the Dalek soldier.
