Prior to the premiere of Boom, Sethu was also announced to be joining Season 2 as a new companion, alongside Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday.[1] When asked about this and the comparison to Clara Oswald, Steven Moffat replied "I mean, I was talking to Russell about what we’re going to do, but she’s there! We’re just going to do Clara again."[2]
