Tenochtitlan

Tenochtitlan was the capital city of the Aztec Empire. In 1487, 20,000 people were sacrificed there to Huitzilopochtli. The energy released was fed upon by Huitzilin. (PROSE: The Left-Handed Hummingbird)

Acamapichtli was the first Tlatoani of Tenochtitlan. Motecuhzoma Xocoyotzin was the ninth. Azcapotzalco was to the left of the city. (PROSEAgainst Nature)

This city (PROSE: The Left-Handed Hummingbird) was visited by the First Doctor and his companions in the 15th century. During their visit, a great deal of the power in the city was bestowed upon the High Priest of Knowledge Autloc. The High Priest of Sacrifice Tlotoxl also held an amount of sway over the goings on of the city, but not to the degree of Autloc.

Looking over the city was a temple, in which the Doctor's TARDIS materialised. When Barbara Wright was found there by Autloc, she was mistaken for a god and reincarnation of Yetaxa, from whose tomb she had emerged, wearing a bracelet she had found there.

Also in the city was the Garden of Peace, where Aztec citizens were allowed to live out the rest of their lives once they had reached the age of 52. The First Doctor first met Cameca in the garden. (TV: The Aztecs)
