Membership of the sisterhood was seen as prestigious by Pompeii inhabitants, and the [[Caecilius]] family had pledged [[Evelina Caecilius Iucundus|their daughter]] to the sisterhood for life. The organisation had existed in Pompeii for generations, as well as other parts of the Roman world.
The cult followed the prophecies set down in the [[Sibylline Oracles]] by the original [[Sibyl]] herself. A Sibylline Sister could be recognised by stylised makeup which included eyes painted on the back of both hands.


At the time of the eruption of [[Vesuvius]], their leader is the [[High Priestess]] and known members are [[Soothsayer]], [[Spurrina]], [[Evelina]] and various other women.
In [[62]], an earthquake in Pompeii awoke the dormant [[Pyrovile]] who took over the Sisterhood and other cults.
