Whilst spending time with her mother and Daniel and Simone Simpson, Valarie met the Eleventh Doctor as he homed in on her plasma cutter whilst trying to disarm a bomb. Arabella Hendricks tasked her with assisting him in finding a cure for the Darinthian Blight, which went on to kill Dan, Simone and Patricia. Valarie and the Doctor learnt that Hendricks was responsible and thwarted her, with Valarie saving the rig from being destroyed by her bombs.

The Doctor took Valarie to the hospital and left her a note assuring her that he would be back in ten minutes. Valarie answered the TARDIS telephone to a stranger asking for help, after which the ship was hijacked (AUDIO: The Inheritance) and took her and the Doctor to late 18th century Venice. In the TARDIS, Valarie asked about the extent of the ship's capabilities and learnt of the Doctor's marriages to Elizabeth I and a woman who killed him, as well as the fact that Queen Victoria wanted him dead. The Doctor and Valarie landed in a spaceship in the 57th century and entered a time loop created by a time spider to protect its eggs. Valarie helped the Doctor when he was bitten and attempted to destroy the eggs with coolant before witnessing the spider's ability to rewind time within the loop. She frightened the spider and allowed herself to be bitten prior to the loop resetting to ensure that she would be targetted instead of the Doctor, helping him resolve the loop. This succeeded, although Valarie almost died as a result of the toxin, and they departed with conflicting memories of their time on the ship. Back in the TARDIS, they received another call from the woman and the TARDIS crashed. (AUDIO: The End)

The explosion of the TARDIS caused Valarie and the Doctor to be, thanks to the telepathic circuits, beamed into Jeremy Castle's computer where they appeared to Ellery Quest through narrative media and claimed to be inside his mind, not wanting him to know that he was a fictional character and that they wanted him to erase the Doctor's biography from the computer to prevent the knowledge therein being used to cause the TARDIS's explosion. After having an argument about the Web of Time, Valarie and the Doctor made up. She asked the Doctor if they could go to Paris in 1832 to comfort Évariste Galois, whom she had met in a negated timeline. Valarie and the Doctor arrived on Medrüth and offered to take Hoster, Roanna and Wyler away from the Yearn, but the TARDIS was stolen by the Yearn just as the other Medrüthians were. Despite claiming to be fine, Valarie was actually livid and disgusted by the Doctor's treatment of her and demanded time away from him. His attempts to take her to Roanna on Medrüth instead landed them on Iptheus in the wake of devastation caused by a Time Lord weapon. She discovered a statue of the Eighth Doctor there and began to question if she ever really knew the Doctor at all. The Doctor decided to take Valarie to Lapland, which she had never heard of before, but a call from the stranger led to them being pulled off-course and being intercepted by an Arkheion which pulled the TARDIS into an Arkheion bubble. Valarie encountered a memory of her mother who came into being so that the Arkheion could harvest Valarie's pain over her loss, but Valarie ultimately used the opportunity to say a proper farewell to her before the Doctor switched the Arkheion device off. Having made a promise to her mother, she decided to stop putting off her relationship with Roanna. (AUDIO: Spirit of the Season (audio story))

Valarie got the Doctor to take her and Roanna to Chicago's World Fair in 1893 for their first proper date whilst he worked on using the Arkheion device to trace the stranger's phone calls. The date was complicated, however, by the arrival of Hayden Lockwood, Valarie's future husband, and the revelation that her future self was in a life support tank after being attacked by Roanna's future self, who had been infected with the Surge by Arabella Hendricks. Although Roanna was ultimately cured thanks to the Doctor, Mrs Hendricks killed the future Valarie and she left with the knowledge that her relationship with Roanna would not work out and that she would eventually marry Hayden and die. Investigating a crashed Cyber-ship on Alma, Valarie joined the Rebirth Organisation's programme whilst the Doctor questioned Robert McIntosh and she tried unsuccessfully to persuade Lilly Hartley and the others that Cyber-conversion would not change their sexuality as they had been promised. Valarie's cybernetic upgrades were analysed by the Cybermen to create a new variant and she temporarily adopted Cyber-arms which helped her defeat the Cyberleader, after which she and the Doctor went with Lilly to confront her parents about their attitude towards her sexuality and then left to confront the stranger, whose call the Arkheion device was able to trace. The TARDIS landed on 28 May 1832 due to temporal disruption and Valarie and the Doctor met Évariste Galois. She fell through a rift to when Galois was in prison in 1830 and brought him to 1832 to save him from his death, but the Doctor told her that he had to go back. When she returned to 1830 with him, multiple versions of herself, the Doctor and Galois existed because of her actions and she was given TARDIS calibrations by the other Doctor to give to her version. The two TARDISes resolved the situation and this Valarie ceased to be. (AUDIO: The Galois Group)

An alternative version of Valarie, who was abandoned by the Doctor to protect her from the Daleks, crossed her own timeline in an effort to fight the New Dalek Paradigm and save Roanna, who died in her original timeline. Doing so, she travelled back in time with Tim and gave Arabella Hendricks access to the Dorinthian Blight, doing so with the knowledge that this would kill her mother. Tim admonished her for sticking to established events, but the fact that this alternative Valarie was "one-foot" into this timeline would be instrumental to the Daleks' defeat. She guided the Doctor and her past self with the series of phone calls they had been following. Thanks to this Valarie sticking to established events and being heavily linked to this timeline, she was able to cross into time at the point she came from, and stop the Doctor from leaving and Roanna's death in the first place. (AUDIO: The Last Stand of Miss Valarie Lockwood (audio story))

This alternative Valarie returned to 19th century Chicago where Hayden met her for the first time. They married at Niagara Falls and she wore a bowler hat during the ceremony, after which Hayden adopted her surname. She made sure only to tell him about her adventures prior to when she first met him during her adventures with the Doctor, but did give him information on future technology for the Lockwood Foundation to produce.

After Roanna arrived from the future and succumbed to the Surge, Valarie worked to produce a cure for her but was left seriously harmed after the monstrous Roanna, during an escape attempt in which she killed Frank Garcia's wife, drained power from her cybernetic upgrades. This Valarie was placed into a life support tank at the Lockwood Foundation, where she would die. (AUDIO: All's Fair (audio story))

In the TARDIS, Valarie asked about the extent of the ship's capabilities and learnt of the Doctor's marriages to Elizabeth I and a woman who killed him, as well as the fact that Queen Victoria wanted him dead. She felt his life made no sense, but assured the Doctor that she was ready for the dangers of the universe. (WC: The Eleventh Doctor Returns [+]Loading...["The Eleventh Doctor Returns (webcast)"])

(AUDIO: The End [+]Loading...["The End (11DC audio story)"])

When Quest learnt the truth, Valarie helped him complete the narrative and was, with the Doctor, restored, although she could not understand why they could change time in this instance but not save her mother. Valarie during her adventures. (AUDIO: Short Trips: Volume 12 [+]Loading...["Short Trips: Volume 12 (series)"])

After having an argument about the Web of Time, Valarie and the Doctor made up. She asked the Doctor if they could go to Paris in 1832 to comfort Évariste Galois, whom she had met in a negated timeline. Although she could not remember him, she felt a bond with him and kept him company in the hospital following his fatal wounding in a duel. (AUDIO: The Galois Group [+]Loading...["The Galois Group (audio story)"])

Valarie and the Doctor arrived on Medrüth and offered to take Hoster, Roanna and Wyler away from the Yearn, but the TARDIS was stolen by the Yearn just as the other Medrüthians were. Valarie developed a romance with Roanna and the Doctor suggested that she might want to remain with her, but she felt that she barely knew her and, after the Yearn were taken away by the TARDIS, she gave Roanna the number of the TARDIS telephone should she ever have an emergency or need somebody to talk to. They kissed before parting ways. (AUDIO: The Yearn [+]Loading...["The Yearn (audio story)"])

Pulled into a war after receiving another telephone call, Valarie was left unconscious and alone by an electromagnetic pulse whilst the Doctor had to rebuild his brain and lived as Mr Foreman. Valarie sold her enhancements to Mr Foreman one-by-one in exchange for money for food and told him stories about the Doctor in the hope that he would remember who he was, as well as to allow her to check on the TARDIS in his junkyard. She started to lose herself as she sold her parts, but the Doctor was eventually restored and used her enhancements to stop the war above the planet before returning them to her. (AUDIO: Curiosity Shop [+]Loading...["Curiosity Shop (audio story)"])

After managing to reunite the sentient search-and-rescue robots Lionel and Augustus, Valarie decided to stay with the Doctor but made it clear that she wouldn't allow him to hurt her again. Tracing the call[[edit] | [edit source]]

Valarie and the Doctor encountered the Sontarans in Zurich during their adventures together. (AUDIO: All's Fair [+]Loading...["All's Fair (audio story)"])

(AUDIO: Spirit of the Season [+]Loading...["Spirit of the Season (audio story)"])

(AUDIO: All's Fair [+]Loading...["All's Fair (audio story)"])

Averting a second Time War[[edit] | [edit source]]

Alternate timelines[[edit] | [edit source]]

Valarie and the Doctor met Évariste Galois when the Doctor's TARDIS landed on 28 May 1832 due to temporal disruption, and Valarie fell through a rift to when Galois was in prison in 1830 and brought him to 1832 to save him from his death, but the Doctor told her that he had to go back. When she returned to 1830 with him, multiple versions of herself, the Doctor and Galois existed because of her actions and she was given TARDIS calibrations by the other Doctor to give to her version. The two TARDISes resolved the situation and this Valarie ceased to be. (AUDIO: The Galois Group [+]Loading...["The Galois Group (audio story)"])

(AUDIO: The Last Stand of Miss Valarie Lockwood [+]Loading...["The Last Stand of Miss Valarie Lockwood (audio story)"])

(AUDIO: All's Fair [+]Loading...["All's Fair (audio story)"])
