Yorkshire Ripper

The Yorkshire Ripper was the name given to a human serial killer who operated in Yorkshire.

Long after the Yorkshire Ripper's murders, stories would leak out about him, which were widely covered in the tabloids alongside stories of Myra Hindley and Rosemary West. The Ripper's notoriety in the press came to overshadow that of Alexander Christian. (PROSE: The Dying Days [+]Loading...["The Dying Days (novel)"])

Behind the scenes

The identity of the Yorkshire Ripper is unstated in The Dying Days. In the real world, this was Peter Sutcliffe, who was given the nickname "Yorkshire Ripper" by the press prior to his arrest, based on that of Jack the Ripper.
