Lynda Baron (24 March 1939[1]-5 March 2022[2][3]) played Captain Wrack in the Doctor Who television story Enlightenment and Val in Closing Time. Years earlier, in 1966, Baron recorded the original song "The Ballad of the Last Chance Saloon" for the soundtrack of the serial The Gunfighters.
In April 2006, Baron inadvertently rejoined the Doctor Who universe when a photograph of her in-character as Rubes Malone (and Bernard Cribbins as Frank Cosgrove) was recycled from the BBC television series Down to Earth for the feature Weddings published on the Torchwood House tie-in website that coincided with the broadcast of Tooth and Claw.
