A tendril was a part of an animal or plant. It resembled a small tentacle.

The Animus that the First Doctor met beneath Victorian London was able to regrow to its former self from a single tendril. (COMIC: Unnatural Selection)

Krynoids travelled through space as tendrils in small pods, always in pairs. (TV: The Seeds of Doom)

Jagaroth were lumpy humanoids with green, veined skin covered in small tendrils. They had a single eye on their forehead and a large flap on either side of their face. (TV: City of Death)

The Gelsandorans were distinguished by a set of five wire-thin silver tendrils that protruded from their foreheads. (PROSE: The Ultimate Treasure)

Kyropites were parasitic plants native to YT45. They emitted a soporific gas that put nearby fauna in a dreamlike state. The kyropites would then feed telepathically on the alpha waves produced. If close enough, the plants would extend tendrils and also consume the fauna physically. (AUDIO: The Mind's Eye)

The Kith were a highly-evolved, sponge-like, myconid race with tendrils in the place of arms. (AUDIO: Max Warp)
