When Prasutagus left half of his kingdom to Nero and the other half to his daughters, Nero annexed the entire kingdom, resulting in a revolt by Boudica in 60 (AUDIO: The Wrath of the Iceni) or 61. She came so close to success that Nero almost considered withdrawing his garrisons from the British Isles, but the English queen was ultimately defeated in the West Midlands. (PROSE: Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia [+]Loading...["Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia (reference book)"]) Nero married Poppaea Sabina, whom he called "Poppy". (PROSE: The Romans)

In July 64, Nero's slave buyer Tavius bought Barbara Wright and brought her to the palace. Nero immediately took to her and gleefully chased her around the palace until they were caught by his wife. When the First Doctor came to stay, pretending to be Maximus Pettulian, Nero grew jealous of his popularity and was about to kill him when the Doctor set fire to his plans for a new Rome, which had previously been rejected by the Senate. From this, Nero was inspired to burn the old capital so his new city could be built. (TV: The Romans)

Legacy[[edit] | [edit source]]

By the time that humans left Earth on the Ark, Nero's reign was said to take place in the First Segment of Time. (TV: The Ark)

While in a bubble prison, Iris Wildthyme imagined attending a Roman orgy hosted by Nero. She described him as a "spotty little twerp." (AUDIO: Whatever Happened to Iris Wildthyme?)

Sometime after 2022, (TV: The Power of the Doctor [+]Loading...["The Power of the Doctor (TV story)"]) Ian Chesterton told the companion support group of his adventure with Emperor Nero.
