Gunfight at the O.K. Corral

The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral became the most famous shoot-out in the history of the Wild West. It took place in Tombstone, Arizona on 26 October 1881.

The gunfight was the culmination of a long-running feud between the Clanton family and their allies, and the town's marshal, Virgil Earp, his brothers, Morgan and Wyatt and their friends. (PROSE: A History of Humankind) Wyatt and Virgil wanted revenge on the Clantons for their killing of their younger brother Warren Earp. The Clantons, Ike, Billy and Phineas, agreed to meet for the fight, with the Earps choosing the O.K. Corral as the location. The Clantons were also aided by Johnny Ringo, who was to circle behind the Earps and shoot them in the back. Doc Holliday sided with the Earps. (TV: The Gunfighters)

The gunfight lasted just thirty seconds. (PROSE: A History of Humankind)

One account placed the location of the gunfight, as interacted with by the First Doctor, just outside the O.K. Corral. (TV: The Gunfighters) However, the Twelfth Doctor later noted that the gunfight didn't take place anywhere near the O.K. Corral. (PROSE: A History of Humankind) One account highlighted the discrepancies between the First Doctor's adventure and the historical record, and suggested there may have been a reason for it: (GAME: "Who Changed History?" Thus, the Toymaker's influence may have changed history — or indeed, "the whole town of Tombstone [may have been] another illusionary game created by the Toymaker as a last trap for the Doctor…".
