Earth Aid was a story that was to have been written by Ben Aaronovitch for Season 27, had Doctor Who continued to be produced beyond Survival. It was later recorded and released on audio by Big Finish Productions.
This story was to have been a three part adventure featuring space pirates, the Seventh Doctor building Stonehenge to send a signal into space and a 'data vampire'. This story was to also have included insectoid aliens called the Metatraxi. [1] The theme was to be about the politics of food aid. [2]
Aaronovitch had a planned opening of Ace in command of a Star Trek-style ship before having her sneak off to her cabin, where the Doctor would be waiting. She would tell him "this isn't going to work!". However, Aaronovitch has also said this story may not have been produced due to the known problems of getting the BBC of the time to produce effective spacecraft sets ("a crappy bridge", as he put it).[3]
