Her younger brother, Prince Zyman, usurped the throne and stole her Bloodline, leading her to flee with her mortal handmaiden Persis. In a last ditch effort, the pair travelled to the Hidden Planet, where the legendary and very old Captain Jack Harkness was said to reside.
