Commander Steg was the leader of the Sontarans invading the Tiger Moth. He wore a distinctive gold helmet.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Steg led the Sontarans in their search for a Rutan hiding in human spaceships. (PROSE: Shakedown)
Invading the Tiger Moth, Steg encountered resistance by Captain Lisa Deranne and Kurt, so he convinced them they would not be harmed if they assisted in killing the Rutan, though he had no intention of honoring his bargain, even killing Nikos himself when the young man tried to shot him. Steg ordered the ship destroyed to kill the Rutan, but Kurt and Lisa confronted him. Steg non-fatally shot Kurt, but was shot himself by Lisa, whom he had underestimated. He saluted her and was thought to have died, when the Rutan showed up and asked Lisa if he was dead to which she told the Rutan that all of the Sontarans and most of her crew were all dead. The Rutan decided to spare Lisa and Kurt due to them sharing a common enemy in the Sontarans before declaring that it will go in the Sontaran Boarding Craft, while revealing it’s true form to Lisa before boarding the Sontaran ship. Steg suddenly regain consciousness and urgently warned Lisa of the Destructo Bomb he had left in the airlock tunnel. She quickly threw it into the Sontaran Boarding Craft the Rutan was trying to escape in. Steg fully redeemed himself by holding the closing airlock doors open long enough to save Lisa's life, declaring: “I win Rutan! I win!” before he finally died. Not long after Steg’s death the Sontaran Boarding Craft had managed to get far away from from the Tiger Moth before finally exploding, successfully killing the Rutan Spy. Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]
Like most Sontarans, Steg was shown to be ruthless, cunning, and merciless. Unlike his subordinate Lieutenant Vorn (who was more dim witted and less skillful), Commander Steg however was more calm. And coolheaded, was very intelligent, skillful, and also much more tactical. Like many Sontarans, he cared very little for humans and planned to kill them once their usefulness was over. Despite his ruthlessness, Steg did had a more honourable side, as shown when he saluted Captain Lisa Deranne upon being defeated by her, and when he regain consciousness, he urgently warned her about the Destructo Bomb in the airlock tunnel. In a final act of redemption, when the Rutan Spy attempted to escape aboard the Sontaran Boarding Craft, he held the airlock door open long enough for Lisa to escape before his death.
