Meeting Olive Hawthorne[[edit] | [edit source]]
In the 20th century, Victor met Olive Hawthorne at The Cloven Hoof when she was attracted to his violin playing. They met again the next day and had a deep conversation, where he read her mind to connect with her. The two got to know each other very well and Olive would often read to him in the candlelight. When Olive suggested that he should come and see her runes and crystal ball, he adamantly told her to never invite him into her home. He told her she would understand eventually, although Olive was still disappointed.
One night, whilst walking through the church graveyard, Olive discovered Victor feasting on the blood of a dead deer. She ran away and Victor calmly followed, allowing her to understand she was safe with him. They went to The Cloven Hoof and Victor explained what he was. Olive wanted him to turn her so they could share the guardianship of Devil's End, but Victor told her they would represent its greatest threat. He revealed to her that her charts were wrong and that there would be an eclipse the following day that they could experience together.
The next day, Victor arrived at Olive's house and took of his cloak in front of her, exposing his skin to the sunlight. He burned to death as Olive watched. Years later, she understood he had done it to protect her. His death weighed on her heavily and she kept his ashes in a silver urn until her own death in 2017. (HOMEVID: Half Light)
