At some point, Richards encountered the Doctor. Richards owned a house in Los Angeles, and allowed the Doctor to stay. According to the Eighth Doctor, Richards later gave him the house, as the Doctor was there more than he was. The Doctor speculated that he did not like living there much "after Gram died".
