By 1265, Albert of Bavaria was a monk, a former bishop and a professor of theology at Paris University. He gained access to space-time travel, and brought back genetically engineered mythical creatures, including manticores and griffins from a laboratory in 7199.
In order to complete the Transcendental Bestiary, Albert hired artists to put these fantastic creatures to paper. Many died when those creatures left their cages.
