According to John Dorney, who adapted the scripts of The Foe from the Future for audio, the only female character in the original draft was Leela. When it was adapted for The Lost Stories, Charlotte was added to the cast of characters, played by Louise Brearley. Neither Charlotte, nor any alternative version of the character, was part of the original script. Dorney included Charlotte as a sort of audience surrogate, and it was through interactions with her that a number of story elements were translated into the audio medium.
