The Tears of Laughter was a 2006 Bernice Summerfield short story written by David N Smith and released in the anthology Collected Works.

Anton tracks down his former lover Bev Tarrant, now the director of the Braxiatel Collection, to sell her a book previously banned by the Fifth Axis... The Tears of Laughter.
