Paterson Joseph (born 22 June 1964[1]) played Rodrick in the Doctor Who television stories Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways. He also voiced several characters for Big Finish Productions.
Following David Tennant's statement that he would retire from playing the part, he was widely considered the most probable candidate for the role of the Eleventh Doctor before the announcement that the role would go to Matt Smith.
Career[[edit] | [edit source]]
Prior to his involvement with Doctor Who, he had played Marquis de Carabas, a roguish character from the Neverwhere television series frequently compared to the Doctor. Neverwhere featured future Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi.
He also appeared alongside Christopher Eccleston in the 2015 ITV drama Safe House, and the HBO series The Leftovers.
