Death in the Stars, or Death in the Stars: A Melanie Bush Mystery, was the seventy-third novel and the eighth special release published by BBC Books in the BBC New Series Adventures.
It was released as hardback on 22 August 2024. Written by Bonnie Langford and Jacqueline Rayner, the novel featured Melanie Bush and Sabalom Glitz during their partnership following her leaving the Seventh Doctor in TV: Dragonfire.
Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
When young Mel’s business partner, Sabalom Glitz embarks on yet another “get rich quick” scheme, it marks the start of an epic, death-defying murder-mystery in space.
After barely escaping the snares of a murderous galactic cult, Mel searches for fellow survivors in a nearby spaceship graveyard – while Glitz looks to fill his pockets. But the discovery of a spaceship with its crew in suspended animation, and incredible secrets on board, leaves the duo stranded with no way off.
Mel revives the crew – and then the murders start. Murders that cannot possibly have been committed by any of the crewmembers. In fact, there are only two realistic suspects – Glitz and Mel themselves…

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The title of the novel is a reference to the novel of a similar name, Death in the Stars: A Kate Shackleton Mystery, by Frances McNeil, released on 5 October 2017.[2]
- When parking the Nosferatu II, Mel notices a ship with "Kazemi" printed on the hull, which is most likely a reference to Langford's EastEnders character Carmel Kazemi, which she portrayed on the series from 2015 to 2018.

- Mel recalls the destruction of the original Nosferatu and Glitz appropriating Iceworld as the Nosferatu II following Kane’s death, as depicted in TV: Dragonfire [+]Loading...["Dragonfire (TV story)"])
