Sarah Jane Smith was a school friend of Andrea Yates who drowned after falling from Westport pier in 1964.
At the behest of Andrea, the Trickster altered the timeline to switch her place with Sarah Jane, so that Sarah died instead of her. Sarah's potential was confined to Limbo.
Following the tragedy, Carla Morgan - another of Sarah's friends, wrote a poem entitled "An Ode to Sarah Jane Smith" in her honour. (TV: Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?)
