As a teenager, Hynes was part of the National Youth Theatre company, and made her screen début in 1993 playing the First Midwife in Peter Greenaway's ''The Baby of Mâcon''. Her credits include voiceover work for ''Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'', and ''Shaun of the Dead'' starring [[Simon Pegg]].
