Colin McLaren was the Laird of the Highlander McLaren clan and the father of Alexander McLaren and Kirsty McLaren. Injured at the Battle of Culloden, his family and Jamie McCrimmon fled, taking refuge in an abandoned cottage. The Doctor tended to the Laird's wounds, but they were captured by Algernon Ffinch, then handed over to Grey to be sold into slavery. He and the other prisoners were freed due to the Doctor's help.
