Earth Aid was a story that was to have been a part of Season 27, had Doctor Who continued to be produced beyond Survival, written by Ben Aaronovitch it was later recorded and released on audio by Big Finish Productions.
This story was to have been a three part adventures featuring space pirates, the Seventh Doctor building Stonehenge to send a signal into space and a 'data vampire'. This story was to also have included an insectoid alien race; the Metatraxi. [1] The theme was to be about the politics of food aid. [2]
Aaronovitch had a planned opening of Ace in command of a Star Trek style ship, before having her sneak off to her cabin, where the Doctor would be waiting, and tell him "this isn't going to work!". However, Aaronovitch has also said this story may not have been produced due to the known problems of getting the BBC of the time to produce effective spacecraft sets ("a crappy bridge", as he put it).[3]
Legacy
The Metatraxi are mentioned in EDA: Alien Bodies and the introduction of DWM: Abslom Daak - Dalek Killer.
